How to Choose the Right Computer for your Family

Despite most of our families owning their own individual devices, most of us still need a family computer for homework, school projects, booking holidays or learning to type. One of our clients recently mentioned their child needed to type something out, and it occurred to them, they had very little experience of typing on an actual keyboard!
There are some brilliant programmes available to help your children learn to touch type which has become a vital skill for all areas of life.
So what are your options when it comes to buying a family computer?
Being an Apple products site we are, of course, going to suggest you buy an Apple product! The good news is, we sell refurbished machines - which means the price tag won’t make you wince too much, and should still leave some cash left in the bank for the endless bills having a family generates.
Let’s start with a Laptop.
Laptops are great options if you don’t have a specific desk or workspace, and the kitchen table, or a sofa doubles as where your children need to do school projects, (or you need to book your next holiday online once they’re in bed.)
The MacBook Pro is a favourite, and we have machines available starting at just £550 through to £2000 depending on the options you choose.
Here is one example of a laptop we sell plenty of which serves a family’s needs with ease.
A family classic, which has the processing speed to do all the internet browsing, word processing, and emailing you need!
Next up we have the desktop options.
If you are after a machine with a larger screen size, want more bang per buck and don't need portability, then an iMac is a great option which won’t let you down. It also looks pretty lovely on a desk set up, so if your family workspace is in your living room - it won’t ruin your decor too much!
Here is just one example of a popular machine, that exceeds the requirements of most families.
The iMacs we have start from £280 and go to £1,687 - depending on the customisable options you choose.
If you don’t really know what it is you need, then do send us a message. Tell us what you use the machine for, and we will recommend a machine which fits your budget and requirements.
Just before you go …
One question we get asked a lot - what happens if it breaks?
You can select up to 12 month warranty to cover the machine’s parts if they should break- simply send us your machine back and we can fix it!
We also know that accidents can happen where families are concerned - which is why having a whole gang of Apple experts, with a whole library of Apple parts, means we can help with a low cost solution to fixing your machine. If the worst does happen and your parrot pinches the keys from your keyboard, or your hamster bites off the number 5 (both real-life examples we’ve helped with!!) simply get in touch and you can buy the parts you need, without shelling out for a whole new machine.
