Before buying a new computer, it’s worth considering exactly what you want to use it for.
Unless you are doing something processor intensive (like gaming or video editing), you won’t necessarily need the speed of the latest model. For what most people use; web access, media streaming, email, word processing, spreadsheets etc a laptop or desktop which is a few years old will provide all you need in terms of functionality.
So let’s get down to the details.
What is the price difference between a brand new Apple computer and a refurb?
Like many things, if you buy brand new they depreciate considerably within the first two years, and the same is true for computers.
A new car on average depreciates by 30% in the first 2 years, for an Apple laptop if can be as much as an eye watering 60%!
As of March 2019, a brand new 15” Apple laptop starts at £2349 for the minimum spec (rising to £6,524 for highest spec hardware!). Click4mac have a comparable specification 15” MacBook Pro (very capable of running the latest system version) for under £700!
What can I expect from a warranty?
When buying anything which costs more than a week's wages, we all want to know how long it is likely to last.
When you buy a brand new Apple product, it will come with a standard 12 month warranty. All our products can be bought with a 12 month warranty (or you can pay slightly less to have just a 3 or 6 month one).

Normally, buying second hand means no warranty, but with click4mac you can get the same 12 month warranty you would get on a new computer.
This means - if the computer breaks within the warranty, simply send it back to us and we will either fix it or replace it like for like.
(Sadly if you spill coffee on your laptop, we can’t pick up the bill, but if it breaks within warranty due to anything other than accidental damage - we have got it covered.)
Trade-Ins
Trade in your old computer against the cost of your new one on our super-simple trade-in site, mac2cash.com. Not all companies will do this. You can trade in your old computer (even faulty machines) to get far better pricing than Apple offer to recycle your old machine, and you can get the value refunded from the pre-VAT price on click4mac so you get 20% more refunded.
Winner!
Are there any benefits to a slightly older model?
Most of us love to have something new, but sometimes new isn’t always best.
Apple is a company who love to innovate, this does result in some functions being taken out of their latest models. For example, the latest Apple laptops don’t even have standard USB ports, in this case buying a slightly older model means that you can access all the functionality you need.
